Our February ‘Bid Break’ invitation is all about getting moving and boosting your brain
At ShineX, many of us spend hours each day in front of screens, creating, collaborating, and innovating with our clients. We’ve learned that our best ideas often come after a good walk or workout.
One of our team members swears by walking a “grateful mile”, another starts the day with a sunrise walk and swim, while another trains with weights before beginning work. We might burn the midnight oil on occasions, but we are early birds at heart, energised by movement and mindfulness before each working day begins.
Science backs us up. Regular exercise doesn’t just boost physical health; it also reduces stress, sharpens focus, and improves mood. Even short bursts of movement, such as a quick stretch, a walk between meetings, or a few minutes of mindfulness, can make a significant difference.
For people who work in front of screens all day, movement isn’t just beneficial, it’s a way to keep creativity, focus, and wellbeing in balance. Here are a few simple ways to help you build movement into your day.
5 Simple Ways to Get Moving at Work
-
Morning Mile – Start your day with a short walk outdoors to clear your mind and boost your mood.
-
Stretch Breaks – Set a timer every hour to stand up, stretch your arms, and roll your shoulders.
-
Desk Squats or Lunges – Do 10 squats or lunges while waiting for your coffee or between meetings.
-
Walk and Talk – Take your calls or meetings on the move for fresh air and fresh thinking.
-
Mini Resistance Routine – Keep a resistance band nearby for quick arm, back, or leg exercises during breaks.
Just a few minutes of movement can lift your energy, improve posture, and help you feel better during the workday.
